Quarantine Hacks to Keep Around Pt 2•
Posted on July 29 2020
Did you develop any new "normal" habits during quarantine that you'll keep around for good? There are a few new things I tried while things were shut down that I can honestly say I'll keep around for the long haul.
Today, I wanted to share with you my grocery hack that has spoiled me BIG TIME. I'm not sure I'll ever go back to regular grocery shopping. I should preface this by saying, even before this pandemic, I did not enjoy the weekly grocery trip. Wal-Mart grocery pickup was my bestie before the pandemic. However, if you were also regularly doing pickup before the pandemic, you may experienced that it went from a quick and easy pickup to a 30+ minute wait. This does not bode well with an active toddler strapped into a car seat. I wanted to find another solution.
Katie, our store manager, had mentioned she started using Instacart. I was actually surprised by this because Katie is one of those people who actually enjoys grocery shopping. If she loved it, I had to give it a try.
When I signed up I saw that there were way more options. Locally for me, I can get Sprouts, Costco, Sam's Club, and Aldi. There are even more options, but those are the ones I regularly use. I do shop Target, but through the Instacart app all items are more expensive. I'm guessing this is due to their partnership with Shipt, so I do not shop from Target through Instacart app.
If you have memberships at Costco or Sam's club you can just enter your membership number into the app and you're good to go. If you do not, you can sign up for memberships within the app.
I also like that you can use Instacart from a web browser or the app on your phone.
You pay a delivery fee from each location, unless you sign up for express membership. Express is $9.99 per month or just $99 for the year. In my opinion, if you use the service regularly, it's worth every penny. Sometimes you can pay $9.99 for delivery from just one store so if you have the express membership you can order from 3 different stores at once without the delivery fees.
Owning a retail store during a pandemic is crazy town. My work schedule is very busy. I love using the app because it helps me to free up more time to spend with my family. Plus, I like that I am supporting the economy by helping someone have a job or a side gig. I love that the tips 100% go to the driver so you can dictate how much your shopper will make on top of their regular pay each time. In my opinion, It's a great opportunity to be generous and loving to people in our community.
Of course, I'm happy to tip well because I haven't stepped foot into a grocery store in months thanks to this awesome service. It's a dream come true for me.
I've posted below with some of my favorite products I've discovered by using the Instacart delivery service.
If you'd like to try it out for $10 off + free delivery, here's a code you can use: https://inst.cr/t/NzI1NlVTN3hy
